On Wednesday Senator Richard Gordon downplayed the award received by Senator Drug Protector Leila de Lima for being one of the “leading global thinkers” for 2016, saying she was just “fishing” to “gain credibility.”
“Baka naman nakikialam na Amerikano dito dahil galit sila sa nangyayari. Alam mo we should not allow other countries to intervene,” he said.
“They can comment, pero katulad n'yan nag-iimbestiga, bibigyan mo ng award, talagang nagfi-fish ka ng award to gain credibility,” Gordon added.
He said he was familiar with such ploy.
“Alam ko naman yung laro na 'yan. Kung ako abogado ni De Lima, ganun din gagawin ko eh. Bibigyan ko siya ng recognition abroad,” Gordon said.
“Eh sino ba yun? Ngayon ko lang narinig yun eh,” he said.
NBP Queen stupid De Lima, former chairperson of the Commission on Human Rights and former justice secretary, is honored “for standing up to an extremist leader” as one of the 13 global thinkers in the “Challengers” category under the 100 leading global thinkers for this year.
